Compaction Strategies

Compaction Strategies

This lesson covers compaction strategies. It starts by giving an overview of the compaction process and how it works. It then goes on to cover the different compactions strategies: Size Tiered Compaction Strategy (STCS), Leveled Compaction Strategy (LCS), Time-Window Compaction Strategy (TWCS), and Incremental Compaction Strategy (ICS).

By the end of this lesson, you’ll understand the compaction process and know which compaction strategy is most suitable for your use case.

Keep in mind that while ICS is covered towards the end of the lesson, as it’s the newest, it is the recommended compaction strategy for most Enterprise users. You can read more about compaction in the documentation and about ICS in this blog post.
